Pipeline plugin instalbility, fails to re-enable after server restart

The pipeline plugin is very useful but unfortunately, under Bamboo 5.7 and above (we're using 5.7.2) it disables itself if Bamboo is restarted, or sometimes without even restarting Bamboo.

When the plugin is disabled it fails the first attempt at re-enabling and, on the second attempt, it only loads 17 out of 18 modules. The module it cannot reload is the Build Activity Listener. The only solution is then to completely uninstall and reinstall the plugin.

Is there a fix for this?  Here's the error in the logs:
