New Feature: Modular Test Steps

Hi,

Would it be possible to group the test steps in modules?

Then, for each test case, the user will be able to build the test steps with the predefined modules.

The reason for this request is that a lot of test cases have the same steps or in other cases half of the test steps are the same.

  • This way it will be easier for the user to just select from the modules defined and build the test case scenario.

Another reason will be automatic update of the test steps to all test cases

  • If the user changes the step configuration in one module, then all tests containig this module will be updated accordingly.
  • This would have been possible with some bulk edit of the "Zephyr Teststep" filed, but the field is not available for search in JQL.
  • I know ZQL is coming in 2.0, maybe it will be searchable then.

This will save the QA teams a lot of time spent on manually updating each step and adding the same steps every time a new test is created.

Best,

Nicu

Hi Nicu,

This sounds like a very useful feature.

I'll share the request with the development team so they can consider adding it in a future release.

Kind Regards,

Chris
