Is there a way to speed up rendering a large select list field when editing?

I have a select list field that has close to 10,000 entries.  Whenever we need to go in and edit it, it takes a significant amount of time to render onscreen and do any sort of operation on it (add, change order, etc).  Is there a way to speed these operations up?

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about this.

10,000 entries is around 9,800 more entries than is useful for humans, and Jira simply isn't built to handle more than a few hundred.

I'd suggest replacing it with a text field and a bit of validation to make sure the entered data matches one of the 10k entries.
