Is it possible to use Xray to trigger and receive results of tests executed by Robot Framework?

Paul Henckel July 28, 2015

I havent tried myself, I'm just trying to get an initial overview and didnt see anyone else asking this question.

Is it the same procedure as Zephyr is using? https://support.getzephyr.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203781295-Running-robot-framework-as-automation-script-in-ZBOT?locale=en-us

We are still evaluating which plugin that would go best with our old workflows, and how it handles automation is one of the key aspects.

Hi Paul,

Xray does not yet provide a way to trigger builds directly from JIRA. It is totally possible though to import your execution results using the Xray REST API: http://confluence.xpand-it.com/display/XRAY/Import+Execution+Results

If you are using a Continuos Integration platform for your builds, like Jenkins or Bamboo, you can configure them to execute your Robot tests and then import back the result to JIRA and Xray.

Hope this helps,

Bruno Conde.

Hi,

"Xray does not yet provide a way to trigger builds directly from JIRA."

In the meanwhile, is this included? And especially for the robot framework?

Kind regards,

Dries

Hi Dries,

Unfortunately, this is not yet implemented. Please watch and vote on the following suggestion in our backlog: https://jira.xpand-it.com/browse/XRAY-438

If you use Script Runner, it is possible to create a button on a Test Plan issue to trigger an external Job in Jenkins for instance: https://confluence.xpand-it.com/display/XRAY32/Extending+and+integrating+with+Xray+using+ScriptRunner#ExtendingandintegratingwithXrayusingScriptRunner-TriggeraJenkinsprojectbuildfromaTestPlan

This is only a workaround. We plan to provide a generic solution to trigger a build on an external CI platform.

Best Regards,

Bruno Conde.
