Is Script Runner data included in JIRA backup file?

Chris Leger January 2, 2014

Hi,

We're making great use of Script Runner in our JIRA installation, but I'm not sure if the configuration data and scripts for Script Runner are included in the data backed up by JIRA. Will all the Script Runner data be restored just by restoring JIRA from a backup the normal way?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Any setup in your instance and built-in scripts will be there, seeing as how you're basically just 'pointing' to the built-in scripts from the plugin to run them. Any custom scripts you might have done yourself, however, are not included in a backup file and you might want to copy them somewhere else as a precaution before restoring.

Thanks--but what about the scripts that are stored in JIRA itself, as opposed to being stored on disk and pointed to? There are many places (e.g. custom fields or workflow conditions) where you can enter a short script directly in JIRA instead of pointing to a file on disk.

They are all in the database and will be in the backup. But you should reassure yourself that I am telling the truth here by doing a trial restore.
