Insight CSV import adding a fixed value to an attribute

Claudio Menetti January 18, 2018

Hello,

while setting the mapping for a CSV import, how can I set in a destination attribute something that is not coming from the souce CSV but with a fixed value?

To better explain I try an example: in the same object type "cards" I have blue cards and red cards. But I have 2 different source of truth for red and blue. So while importing blue cards from a "blue cards only" CSV file I would like to set walways "blue" in the "color" attribute of my generic objects cards, but "blue" is not written in a column of the CSV I want to set this on import level.

Is this feasible? How?

Thanks in advance

Hi Claudio,

It's not possible to set a default value for an attribute based on a specific import. For that, one solution would be to add that column to the CSV.

It's possible to add automation rules that will set values in Insight on object creation events. But in this case, I would only be useful if you have some information on the created objects attributes that could indicate what color that should be set.

For more information about our automation engine, take a look at https://documentation.riada.se/insight/latest/insight-manager-s-guide/insight-automation

I would like to recommend you to visit https://jira.riada.se which is our open ticket system for feature requests and verified bugs. You can view, watch, vote etc for issues reported by anyone.

If you can't find an already opened feature request for this, feel free to create a new one.

Best Regards
Alexander
