Import Redmine project as component

My company has several projects from our Redmine instance that we would like to import into one Project in JIRA. We will split them up as several different components instead. Is there any way to import projects from Redmine as individual components in JIRA? Thanks.

Firstly, you need to create components in the target JIRA project (the project in which you want the issues to eventually live in their respective components). Then...

For each Redmine project, do this:

  1. Import the project into a new JIRA project. Let's call that project TEMP.
  2. Add a component to TEMP. Let's call that component BLAH.
  3. Use bulk update to set the component of all issues in TEMP to BLAH. Or maybe if your import is clever, this can be done during the import.
  4. Use bulk update to move the issues to the target project. In the process, you will be prompted to set the component in the target project to which the issues will belong.

Hi Grant,

There is a plugin on market that could be useful to you:

If the importers do not let you do what you want to do, then you can try the import using CSV.
