Copying Components in the Creation of Issues

Adriana Llano February 21, 2019

Hello, could you tell me if there is any way that in the creation of an Issue the components assigned to the epic or the parent associated with the new Issue created are copied?
I tried the creation and linked Issue events but it doesn't work.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Thank you very much. It works if the Issues are created from the epic itself but not if they are created from the User Story Map.
Is there a way that it works if the creation is done from there?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Hi Adriana,

yes this should be possible with a fairly simple rule:

copy-components.png

So basically when a Story is created, this rule will edit the story and copy the components from the Epic.  This rule requires though that the 'Epic link' is already established when the story is created.

Otherwise, if you are linking the Story to an epic after creation you could also use the 'Field Value Changed trigger' with the Epic link field.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Andreas
