Copy Space fails due to allegedly duplicate space key

We are using the Copy Space Plugin for  Confluence (cloud) in order to copy existing spaces and use them as templates for new spaces.

This used to work quite well. Recently however, the process has startet to fail.

Whenever we try to copy a space, we get:

An unexpected error occurred: a space may already exist with an identical title

There is no space with an identical title. The process does not fail when it gets to a certain page, it usually happens somewhere between 15% and 80%. I have tried all manner of different space-titles and space-keys.

Any help on the subject would be appreciated, I am also open to suggestions of alternative tools (as long as they are availiable for the cloud-version).
