Clear JIRA custom filed value on post function

I want to copy one custom filed value top other custom filed.

I know it is possible using Script Runner / JIRA Misc workflow etc

But is it possible without using any plugins?

Can we develope our own plugin or is there any free add-on for the same?

Hi Siddheshwar,

The native JIRA post function does not update custom fields per the Advanced Workflow Configuration:

Updates one of the issue's fields to a given value. Fields that can be updated include:

  • Assignee
  • Description
  • Environment
  • Priority
  • Resolution
  • Summary
  • Original Estimate
  • Remaining Estimate

(info) This post function cannot update custom fields and must be positioned after the other optional post functions.

You can definitely create your own add-on.  If you have not done so before you'll want to start with the Getting Started section of the Atlassian Developers documentation.

One add-on that is a bit cheaper that can perform similar functions is JIRA Misc Workflow Extensions.  In addition, please vote on JRASERVER-7657.  It is a Suggestion to add the ability to update custom fields with JIRA's native post functions.
