Hello,

I'm evaluating the icTime plugin and I can't find where to add activities. What are the steps that i need to follow to add Activity types?

Lucas

Hi Lucas,

The add-on configuration screen in the JIRA add-on administration (accessible for all JIRA admins) is only used to configure some global ictime settings. Everything else, like activity types, is configured via the ictime dropdown in your JIRA navigation - you do not need to be in administration mode.

However, your screenshot looks like you don't have this item in your navigation. There are basically the following ideas why:

1. Your user does not have the permissions to access any ictime functionality. Usually, a typical JIRA admin user (belonging to the group "jira-administrators") will have all necessary permissions. However, if you have created your own groups and do not use the JIRA default, you might first need to do some configuration. This is described here: https://interconcept.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ICTIME/ictime+Permissions

1. ictime did not install properly or there are other problems. In this case, please try to uninstall and install again and if still not working, first have a look at the JIRA add-on list and click on ictime to see if it shows any problems (i.e. is properly activated or not) and also have a look at the JIRA logs if there is something related to ictime. You might want to provide the logs to our support (jiraplugins at interconcept.de), including information on your exakt JIRA version and the database you use (MySQL, Oracle, ...).

Best regards

Tobias

Hi Lucas,

First, you need to create activity types in ictime and ensure that activity types are not disabled (see https://interconcept.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ICTIME/Configure+Activity+Types). If required, you also might decide on a per-project base to use activity types or not and/or to limit activity types on a per-project base (see https://interconcept.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ICTIME/Project+Activity+Types). If you do not have these configuration options, you do not have the respective permissions in ictime (see https://interconcept.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ICTIME/ictime+Permissions).

Once you have done the configuration on ictime (and maybe project level), the activity dropdown will be available when you log work (within the restrictions set via configuration, i.e. if you log work for a project that has been configured not to use activity types, the dropdown won't be there, of course).

Hope this helps.

Best regards

Tobias
