Can one a custom link type to Jira?

Currently, three types of links can be added to a Jira issue:

  • To another Jira issue
  • To a Confluence page
  • To any URL (Web Link)

Can another link-type be added? We could use it to refer to our other (non-Jira) ticketing system, for example.

If this requires writing a plugin, are there any examples out there, that one can use to learn? Thanks!

If you just want to record the relationship, you can use the Web Link type. Just give the URL.

If you need more customized view, which shows etxra information like status etc, you will need to create a new remote link type.

Hello,

I got a similar issue: in our case it's a URL/URI pointing to a lotus notes document, e.g.

notes://dominoPro/xe54/ActionList2.nsf/0/94C4857AB8502771C125784E003534E7

Replacing the 'notes' scheme with 'http' allows to set the value, but clicking it gives a reduced webview of the document, instead of opening the same in the lotus notes application.

Any way to allow other schemes apart from http/https?
I remember doing this in an earlier version of
fisheye, but don't see how in can be done in JIRA

Thanks

Ben
