Can Automation for JIRA trigger a rule when an issue is re-opened?

With Automation for JIRA is it possible to run a rule when an issue is re-opened?

So there's a couple of different ways to achieve this.  JIRA doesn't really provide a reliable 're-opened' event since it depends a bit on workflow customisations.  This rule should cover most cases:

So lets take a look at this:

  • First we have a field value changed trigger that only triggers when the status changed
  • Then we check that the old status (fieldChange.fromString) was 'Done'.  You could also use a regex here to match multiple resolved statuses
  • Then we check that the issue is now in a statusCategory != Done 
  • Finally we take an action. In this case we're just logging a message to the audit log, but you could use any action automation for JIRA supports here.
