Automatically log time spent on issue

Alexander Pennie July 31, 2014

Hello.

I need to solve this case:

I need to automatically calculate how many hours user spent to work with issue.

Wherein I need to:

  • Calculate time spent for all issue historical assignees
  • Calculate time spent for each issue status
  • exclude non-working horus and days (we work mon-fri from 09:00 to 18:00)
  • include extra working hours

Given:

  • JIRA onDemand
  • Jira Agile: Kanban
  • Jira misc workflow extensions
  • eazyBi reports
  • Workflow have 4 main steps: Analysis - Development - Testing - Documenting
  • We changing assignee: at first - analyst, then - developer, then - QA, etc.

So, I need to count time spent for each transition status for each transition assignee.

Now I try to solve my problem by this way:

EazyBI could count days in transition and transition assignee, so I could make report like this:

In this case day = 8h.

We could plus manually logged time spent for each issue.

But I don't know how to account for non-working days.

I think, that is the better way is using standard jira feature - time tracker and automatically logging time by Post Functions (workflow toolbox plugin).

But Workflow toolbox plugin not avaliable for onDemand Jira (thanks Fidel Castro Armario)

Do you have any?

Thank you.

In current version cloud (onDemand) eazyBI can't count hours in a way you need. There is workaround for this in JIRA server case. There are plans for future to do some custom calculations during data import to solve this type of problems.

Hi,

JIRA Workflow Toolbox is currently not available for JIRA onDemand (Cloud). You must be using JIRA Server if you are working with it. Can you confirm that?

Thank you for your correction.

I checked, I have only Jira Misc Workflow Extensions.

Corrected text of the question.
