A developer question

Hi All,

I'd like to develop Jira and Confluence (e.g. script fields, plugins, etc.).

Can you please give me advises what are the requirements for this? I mean what level of JAVA do I need to know? Or any else programming language?

Can you recommend me a book or tutorial?

I am not a developer I know only Visual Basic.

Thanks in advance for all the hints and advises!

I'd start with https://developer.atlassian.com/display/DOCS/Introduction+to+the+Atlassian+Plugin+SDK as it answers all the generalised questions you have and then points you at details.
