with Automation for JIRA lite, is there a JQL I can use to check previous status

Dave Marsico December 21, 2017

I'm looking to have an automation rule that fires only when a specific issue transition has occurred from x to y.... (from "on hold" to "in progress") .  so i know I can use an issue transition  "WHEN",  when issue status is "in progress", but I want to have a JQL condition or something that can limit it to when the previous status was "on hold"... is that possible somehow??

Hi Dave,

We are working on making this easier but in the mean time you should use a Compare Condition to check the before and after state using the "status" from the change log.

Your rule would look something like:

This also has the advantage of being much quicker than a JQL condition.

Simply change your "from" and "to" to your desired statuses.

Let us know how you go.

Cheers,

Nick

Nick,

Thanks for the response, thats exactly what I need.  But do I need the Pro version for that?

I'm not seeing that condition showing up

Cheers,

Dave
