Why does Lucene index files location check fail?

A little while ago the JIRA Instance Health Plugin introduced the "Lucene index files location" check in version 2.3.0 of this plugin. Every time we try to upgrade the healthcheck plugins in Jira or Confluence this check continually fails for us.

All our indexing is working fine however and we can't find any problems at all to explain why this check is failing.

All our index files are stored in the normal home directory that Jira creates during install. The home directory is stored on standard local drive seperate from the OS. No network or mapped drives in this setup at all.

We are currently using Jira 7.2.2 on a VM running Windows server 2016.

We have also removed all guest access to the Home and Application folders and are running the Jira/Confluence as a service using a service account.

Error details:

I can confirm that this problem dissappears when adding 'Everyone' permissions to the home folder. Is this check trying to access the files using an account outside of the service account that is running the actual application?
