Currently, we have a lot of duplicate tickets created, while we maintain a link to all these cloned issues, was wondering if we can provide a feature where in, when an issue/ticket is transitioning to another status, we can add automation rules that can change the status of linked tickets.

Sure, you can do that with Automation For Jira. Take a look at this article for guidance.
It talks about Sub-tasks and Parents but just change out the Parent Branch type (the purple one) for Linked Issues.
