What test case management tool to use?

NPower December 30, 2012

Hi,

There is already some extensive documentation about it:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Using+JIRA+for+Test+Case+Management

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Integrate+JIRA+With+A+Test+Case+Manager

It is for a team of 2-4 developers and one QA. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Izumi.

Thanks very much all for your input. As we are a nonprofit, I am currently evaluating plugins we got donated.

This is the result of the research I did:

I'll keep you updated and let you know what we decided to use.

Thanks!

Too bad Zephyr is not available for JIRA OnDemand. I used it on a project that had a JIRA installation and it worked great.

This is an old thread but let's update it.

Xray for JIRA is a Test Management Add-on released in 2014. It is the best option to do Test Management inside JIRA. It does not require an external product, everything works within JIRA.

In just 2 years Xray has grown to more than 1000 customers with a very solid rating and customer feedback.

Xray supports both manual and automated tests, provides a REST API and is growing feature-wise every release.

You can check all Xray features in the product documentation

They have a comparison of Xray against Zephyr (Zephyr was launched a couple of years before Xray).

The Xray Team is available for demos and webinars, you can contact them here.

Xray is not free.

This question has recently attracted a lot of marketing "spam" (i.e. vendors or marketeers who want to sell instead of give you a good answer, and don't really meet the guidelines )

There is no single right add-on or integration that is the "right answer" here.  Many of us have different requirements.  The best answer we can give is "look for a well supported App which meets your requirements most closely on the marketplace"

Start with https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?product=jira&query=test

(And just to be clear and avoid breaking the guidelines myself - I do work for one of the vendors you will find in that list.  Despite that, I still very stronly recommend you consider all the options - our app might not be right for you.)

I'm biased, as I'm one of the developers behind this tool, but you might want to look into using TestRail test management, as many of our customers use TestRail together with Jira and are happy with the integration:

Update: You might find our new TestRail JIRA add-ons we just released for JIRA Cloud and JIRA Server useful. You can learn more here:

https://blog.gurock.com/testrail-5-0-jira-test-management/

You can find the add-ons on the Atlassian Marketplace here:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.testrail.jira.testrail-plugin

I hope this helps!

Hi Izumi,

We don't have an specific test case management which we can suggest. We usually recommend to use the one you are most familiar with.

I'll leave this question open as other people can help you as well.

Regards,

Rodrigo
