Using Zephyr Scale we are moving test cases from one project to another changes id

Does anyone know of a way to find test cases based on old test case ids in Zephyr Scale?  We had a large project that we are breaking into smaller projects and moving the corresponding test cases to the appropriate new project.  When this happens it appears to remove the existing test case and create a new one in the new project.  The issue here is that we have some automation set up to execute the tests based on the old id.  

This would not be too big of a manual problem until we realize we will be moving thousands of test cases.

Any suggestions are welcome to help solve this problem.
