Using Adaptavist ScriptRunner to calculate time in status

I'm looking to use Adaptavist ScriptRunner to calculate the time an issue is in a particular status.

I'd then like to analyze this looking at averages based on a variable(s) e.g. Region (custom field), Assignee etc.

I know there are other Marketplace Apps that do this kind of calculation, but as my company already has Adaptavist ScriptRunner i was hoping there was a way to do this without the need to purchase any other tools.

Has anyone attempted this before?
