Updated Remaining Estimate when Estimate Field is Updated for Jira Server

Hi, 

So, Ive noticed that when I update the estimate on a subtask the remaining estimate does not update correctly. Example:

1st estimate = 4 hrs

1st remaining estimate = 4hrs

but then lets say.... I update the 4 hrs from the 1st estimate to 8 hrs. The remaining estimate shows 4hrs instead of updating to 8 hrs. 

Is there a work around for this through automation?

Hi @Rita Arellano 

This is standard jira behavior. You could edit the issue and adjust it manually if you want to, or completely erase the remaining estimate (and it will take the new value). Do you have any app installed, like JMWE or scriptrunner?

I’m pretty sure we have script runner. I’m not sure what JMWE is can you explain? 

how can I fix this with script runner?

 

also, most importantly can you help me understand why this is expected behavior?
