Hi. We're interested in using Tempo Planner for resource planning, but have zero (less than zero) interest in forcing our teams to log work. How does this affect our ability to forecast resource availability?
Our days tend to be unpredictable at times, so we'd likely plan-in some "slop" hours to account for unscheduled interruptions, but are still interested in the workload planning and holiday scheduling aspects of Planner.
Will this work for us?
Tempo Planner can be used even if you are not logging any time.
The Tempo workload and holiday schemes are available when using Tempo Planner, so you can set "required" hours for a user and holidays that affect their work schedule.
In Tempo Planner, you can then see if a user is planning more work than his required hours (this is only an indicator, no restrictions to plan more than required) and if they are planning to work on holidays.
You may also check ActivityTimeline app that allows to plan/track & report on work without a need to estimate tasks or submit time against them. E.g. managers can plan task and the system can calculate workload based the number of issues per day. We’ve explained that at our blog: How to plan work without estimates?
Also, app provides additional option where managers can plan specific activities for users and those activities could automatically become the logged time.
Vacation management is available to manage users' holidays and vacations even if they’re in different locations or have different schedules. This use case is also described in our blog: How to Manage Holidays?
