Our company is using Artifactory repository manager, and we just found that the index file download from Atlassian Maven repository (http://maven.atlassian.com/repository/public) is huge:
nexus-maven-repository-index.gz.png
nexus-maven-repository-index.gz details.png
This has caused some network bandwidth issue on our company's network.
Not sure if this is the right venue to raise the question. Please point me to the right place if it is not. Thanks!
"Oversized" is relative. I think it's okay. It is more an architectural problem of Maven (or just Nexus) to not provide clustered or incremental indexes.
On the other hand, Atlassian may implement some jobs to clean up the repo from time to time, to reduce the index.
Just a side note: This problem was really very annoying using Eclipse and a fresh Maven, our index was about twice or trice the size and Eclipse was not really happy with this
