Just installed Zephyr for Jira and Jira is now locked.

Jon Martin March 5, 2014

We have JIRA, JIRA Agile and Confluence (all most recent versions) installed. We went to install trial version of Zephyr for JIRA and it brought JIRA to it's knees. CPU utilization is pegged and JIRA is essentially unusable.

Is there any known reason why this is happening?

We were able to get around the pegged server CPU utliization after installing the Zephyr add-on.

Decision on licensing is still up in the air.

Hi Jon,

All pricing is controlled by Atlassian. They generate and supply all Zephyr for JIRA licesnes now. So they will be best to ask regarding pricing.

I can say they do use their legacy tier model with all plugins which is you must have as many plugin licesnes as you have JIRA licenses:

I do want to point out that if you are interested in Zephyr for JIRA and you do only have 2 users, you may benefit from checking out our Zephyr Community Edition. It is a stand alone test management tool that tightly integrates with JIRA. It is also 100% free! If you are interested in checking it out we have some information here:

We will be having a free webinar that you can attend on March 18th at 7am PST. It will show you how Zephyr Community Edition works from top to bottom including the integration with JIRA (which would be a key peice for you). The webinar lasts 45 minutes. The last 15 minutes of the webinar we use for questions from folks attending. If you are at all interested you can register here:

Hi Jon,

What kind of errors are you seeing in the logs?

Kind Regards,

Emily

I'll have to check.

After bumping up the plugin loader timeout, the server came back up again. We'll need to re-index the database.

On a separate, but related note, we only have 2 QA resources, yet it looks like we would need to upgrade to the $1500 50 user license to match our other licensing levels for JIRA, JIRA Agile and Confluence. Is that correct?

If so I doubt we'll be using this add-on anyway, since it isn't cost effective for 2 users.
