Jira Structure formula to pull numbers from summary

JL March 3, 2023

Howdy!

This is similar to another post but wasn't able to figure out the same results.

I am looking to pull out the build numbers from the summary. They are not always in the same spot. I've tried various ways with the solution from the post and other search/replace suggestions with no luck.

An example of a summary:

  • [New Build] - [Region] - Server - 1.2.3.888888 New Feature enabled

What I am looking for to extract into a formula:

  • 1.2.3.888888

Any suggestions or support would be great! Thank you.

Hello @JL

For the Formula to be able to return anything, there has to be some sort of a logic that can be defined. For example, if values are similar and they all start from 1.2, or if they are always in the same place - after 'Server - ' or something similar, then the Formula can work with it. But it's not possible to just extract a numeric value without defining if not what the value is exactly but at least where it's located.

I hope this helps. If you have other questions, please reach out to us directly at our support portal.
