Jira Structure Global Variables

Joni Orgel February 9, 2023

Can formula variables be kept somewhere global to the view?

It seems referencing a column just copies the formula but does not link. This means any changes to the original column need to be made all over the place. It also means the same calculations are made repeatedly.

Hello @Joni Orgel ,

In Structure 8.2.0, we introduced the ability to save and share formulas.  This allows you to save a calculation globally to quickly use a formula in another structure, or to Load it as a variable in another formula.

I think however this only gets you part of the way there.  Because once the formula is loaded, it is stored to the new column and not impacted by any changes to the source formula.  You can go into the structure and re-load the variable, which may be slightly more convenient.

It would be great to hear more about your use case, please feel free to describe it and how you would like it to work here.

Best,
David
