Jira Automation: I need to update value of custom field to match user that created the issue

cmbecket March 6, 2019

We have a custom field value set up for "user" which is called "Project Owner".

We need the "Project Owner" field to be automatically set to the user who CREATED the ticket. e.g. not reporter, but creator.

Is it possible to do this with Jira Automation? If so, how? Thank you all in advance!

Hi,

apologies for the very late response to your question. It only showed up in our queue today for some reason.

This should be easy enough to do, using the 'edit issue' action. Just choose the custom field from the 'choose fields to set' dropdown. Then you can simply change it to 'Issue Creator'

I hope that helps but let me know if you have any other question.

Hey @John McKiernan , thanks for your direction. When trying to do this for custom fields, 'issue creator' is not a option.

Any idea how to update the Product Owner custom field based on the creator of the issue?
