Expectation: In XRAY, Is there any possibility to automatically detect reporter value (with user logged in) - after importing test cases from a CSV file?
Currently, after importing test case using "Test Case Importer" wizard in XRAY, the test case ticket is created with "Reporter" value as "Anonymous" (which cannot be changed even by the user who created the ticket). Also no user will be tagged anonymous after successful authentication, so it will be better to have username in below case.
Current Solution: Although we could manually map "Reporter" field in the importer wizard.
Restriction: Even if we miss mapping some fields, we could still update values in those fields after the test case creation. But in case of "Reporter" field, it cannot be updated afterwards.
Nice to have:
IF(REPORTER FIELD IS MAPPED IN IMPORTER WIZARD)
IF (VALUE IS NOT MATCHING WITH ANY OF THE USERNAMES)
THROW ERROR STATING THE REASON;
IMPORT THE VALUE;
IF(REPORTER FIELD IS NOT MAPPED IN IMPORTER WIZARD)
AUTO-DETECT USER FROM THE ACTIVE SESSION;
The restriction that you're facing is an issue with Jira's permission scheme, not an Xray, nor a TCI problem.
That being said, it's better if you contact Atlassian to understand what you need to change in your Jira configurations.
