JIRA Scriptrunner Elapsed time vs CPU time


2 postfunction work on some transition one after another:

Feb 27 2019 18:12:38
Elapsed: 3 ms
CPU time: 1 ms

Feb 27 2019 18:16:53
Elapsed: 255461 ms
CPU time: 10 ms


Why one of my postfunction with CPU time 10 ms took more than 3 minutes Elapsed time?

I thought it was CPU utilization problem and script was simply queued but finally executed for 10 ms

But this is productive instance and we of course monitor all resources and there were ~50% CPU utilization.

Usually this PF takes 100-1000 ms Elapsed time.

I clearly understand that only on ideal environment Elapsed == CPU Time 

But 3 minutes for 1 PF this is a trouble.

How scriptrunner counts Elapsed time and what is the formula?

How I can find root cause?

CPU time refers to the actual time spend on CPU and elapsed time refers to the total time taken for the completion of the parse and compile. The difference between the CPU time and elapsed time might wait time in the queue to get the CPU cycle or it was waiting for the IO completion.

The root cause is check blocking operation and maybe time to rewrite onto non-blocking
