JIRA Confluence Link Plugin .... I've installed it; not sure how its supposed to work.

Kathy Spicer Sep 19, 2012

Hi, I just installed the JIRA Confluence Link plugin, but I'm not sure how its supposed to work. The documentation on this plugin is not complete, so I was checking with you to find out what the status of this plugin is .... is it stable? will the documentation be completed? where can I get assistance (I tried the forums, no response)? Thank you.

Hi, what version of JIRA and Confluence are you using? In the later versions, especially JIRA 5.x and Confluence 4.x there are better integration features out of the box already.

Yes, I read about that and look forward to us upgrading to both versions, but for now, we're running JIRA 4.4 and Confluence 3.3. The problem that I'm having is that upon click of the Confluence link in JIRA, it connects to Confluence, lands in the designated wiki space and on the designated page, but it just sits there - nothing happens, no page creation, nothing. I'm trying to find out: (1) where do I designate a name for the new page - in JIRA or when it connects to Confluence? (2) I read somewhere that its not an actual Confluence template that will be used during the creation process, but rather a wiki page that contains content that will be copied onto the new page during creation. ????? The documentation links associated with this plugin contain incomplete documentation, not enough to ascertain what happens with the plugin after install. Can you assist with this? Thanks.

Thanks for this response. We were unable to get the plugin to function as advertised. Additionally, we upgraded to JIRA 5 and though there are a couple additional Confluence integration features, there is still not functionality to create a Confluence wiki doc from JIRA. We're now looking into customizing JIRA to achieve this functionality. This ticket may be closed. Thanks again.
