Is there a recommended naming standard for Xray issues

Dominik March 14, 2016

Hi,

Are there any issue naming conventions that have proven to be useful when working with Xray? We already have thousands of JIRA issues in our project and we fear that the four new Xray issue types (Test, Test Set, Test Execution, Pre-Condition) will cause confusion among non-testers.

  • Would a standard summary like "Test <featureX>" be useful?
  • What about Test Executions? Are they best named after a release, like "Test Execution - Release v1.2.3"?

Regards,
Dominik

Hi Dominik,

there is no name convention and you may choose which serves you better.

If your main concern is to have Issue Types from Xray mixed with your requirement issues you can create a new project only for Xray Issue Types. Have a look here. Also Xray will release a new feature to have all options of requirement project (requirement status fields on issue and requirement coverage dashboards)  with no need of further configuration XRAY-678.
