Is it possible to store historical data regarding organizational information on an object?

We are looking at using Insight for our organizational data, i.e. organizational units, organizational units leaders, organizational units emplyees etc.

This is straight forward, but then we also need historical data stored on the objects. A units leader is only the leader for that unit in a period, then the unit gets a new leader. Employees quits, moves to other units etc.

This historical data has to be visible on the objects, so that we easily can look up information like who was the leader of a unit in a spesific period, where was that employee working on that date etc.

Is this achievable somehow with Insight?

(The history-tab on the object is not user friendly enough, and it is also neither searchable nor reportable.)

Hi Johannes.

You can achieve your goal by having a "Unit Leader" Object Type.

An "Org Unit" Object Type will reference the "Unit Leader" Object Type which will have objects with attributes such as:

Jira User or an Employee Object.

Role Start Date

Role End Date

Unit Leader Status (e.g. Active / Inactive) - optional, as End Date is Empty can indicate an Active Unit leader...

This way, you will be able to search Historical Records from referenced Objects, and also include additional Attributes if required...

Please let us know if you require additional information.

Kind regards,

Yinon
