Hi,

I'm looking for extra information regarding the "Average Workdays in Transition" measure.

Let me explain my case.

I have created an EazyBI report that display the "Average workdays in transition status" in a timeline. I show only the "ToDo" and "In Progress" status categories.

Screenshot 2023-10-17 at 11.02.56.png

For each week and status category, I can drill trough the issues list.

Now, I have a ticket which has been created on 29 sept 2021, and transitioned to a 'Implementation' status on 2 nov 2021, and to a "Done" status on 22 mar 2022

So if I make my calculations this would roughly mean that the ticket is about 23 workdays in status category "To Do" and 100 workdays in category "In Progress".

Now when I navigate to week 44 (1 nov 22) in my timeline, and drill though the issues, I can see my ticket in the issues list. This is because the "Average workdays in transition status" is only calculated when a transition is complete. So this would make sense.

However, When i navigate 1 week further to week 45 (8 nov), the issue is no longer in the list (because it did not transition in that week). But does this mean the issue is also no longer included in the calculation of the average "To Do" workdays ?

I hope this make sense.

Best regards,

Kris

Hi @Kris Dewachter

I appreciate your interest in eayzBI!

Measure "Average Workdays in Transition Status" and "Average Days in Transition Status" calculates the total duration for selected transition statuses and shows value on the date when the issue left transition status for the chosen status category (exited the cycle). The principle is that eazyBI can measure something with a starting and an ending point. To keep the consistency for past data, the duration is displayed on a date when issues complete the cycle.

On the other hand, to see how many issues are In Progress at the end of each week (or another period you have on report rows) select the measure "Issues history". More details on each of these measures are described in the eazyBI documentation: https://docs.eazybi.com/eazybi/data-import/data-from-jira/import-issue-change-history.

Please look at the picture below to see how measures change on the timeline for a single issue.

For instance, you can build reports showing issues in different transition statuses over time. Here are report examples in the Demo account:
