Check if JIRA instance exists

The problem I am trying to solve basically is that if there is something wrong with the instance (spelling or instance does not exist) the `basic_auth` is a recovery request and it takes about a minute and a half to two minutes to actually get an exception.

I was wandering whether there is a way how to verify the instance exists before authentication or if there is an option I can pass so it fails immediately?

If all you want is a basic server status, Jira provides a /status endpoint. Suitable for load balancer checks, or just general high-level monitoring.

E.g. https://jira.example.com/status would give you a JSON response like the following:

{"state": "RUNNING"}

thanks! that's exactly what I needed
