Can I assign a task to a group?

My understanding is that a task is assignable only to one person. However, I have a request from someone on my team who wants to assign the same task to multiple people. Based on the documentation, a task will be assigned only to the first person listed on the task, which means that task will not show up on anyone else's task list, correct? Furthermore, is it possible to assign a task to a group in which case that task would show up on each person's task list.

Basically JIRA is designed so that issues must be assigned to single user to prevent tasks from being overlooked.  Please refer below atlassian document, if you would to assign the issue to multiple users
