Hi @Eduard Diez ,

The behaviours are only available in Jira server, the functionality is not continued in Jira Cloud.

Regards,

Kevin.

I have been using behaviours to emulate a 3-way cascaded selection:

Product --> Environment --> Customers

by conditionally showing/hiding different fields - The 2nd level fields (env-A, env-B, etc.) are shown based on 1st level (prod-A, prod-B, etc.), 3rd level is based on the values of the 1st + 2nd level fields.

Sadly, on cloud, behaviours are not available, at least not in the near future (as per ScriptRunner vendor).

My plan is to use different issue types to replace the first level (e.g. 'Product Name') and then in each type I will have a cascaded select field for the 2nd/3rd levels.

All issue types will share the same workflow, and for the cascaded select field I will use different field configuration contexts (keyed on the issue type), so the screens will use the same fields.

I have not yet tested this option (contexts) on the cloud. Will report here if I encounter problems.

Hello Amir,

Saw your post above, my question is have you tested it.

I also want the behavior to work on cloud as well.

Please reply asap.

Regards.

  1. Prior to the migration to cloud, we have disabled all the behaviours and replaced those fields with cascaded selection. It actually made our life easier as behaviours are extremely difficult to create, maintain & debug.
  2. I vaguely remember Adaptavist discussing the cloud option for behaviours, or some replacement thereof (but I may been hallucinating :-)). I suggest you check their ScriptRunner documentation and blogs.
  3. In any case, even if it becomes available, we will not use it. Dynamically changing a web page is a task for web/frontend designers and not for Jira admins.

TL;DR: Good Riddance!

Hello Amir,

Could you please share with me how you would create a field with cascaded selection, is it through Rest API programming.

I have not done that via REST API, but here's the documentation:

Create Custom Field .

The 1st type is 'cascadingselect', which is what you need.

And of course, in the UI, go to your CF link:

https://acme-comp.atlassian.net/secure/admin/ViewCustomFields.jspa

click on 'Create custom field', choose 'Select list (cascading)'.

Hi,

The beta program for Behaviours is now closed and the above link no longer works. We will publicly announce when Behaviours become available in Cloud on our Product Updates page.

Thanks,

Katy
