Automation: How to transition issue when commit is move to a specified branch?

Hi All!

I'm a long time user of BitBucket and Trello and just starting to use Jira.

Is it possible to create an automation that transitions an issue when a commit is moved to a certain branch? Let me explain our set up...

We have 3 branches in BitBucket: dev, test and production. I'm looking for a way to automatically move the Jira issue on the project board based on which branch the commit is on. For example, when we first work on a issue, we create a its own branch. Then, when we are ready, we merge into dev. Once things look good there, we merge it into test and then eventually to production. 

Currently, we try to remember to move the issue to the correct Jira board status, but that is a pain and we often forget.

What are your thoughts on how to best approach this?
