Every month we like to highlight the fastest growing Atlassian Marketplace apps over the previous month. Powered by our unique MARS™ database of 3rd party Atlassian Marketplace apps we are able to gain unparalleled insights into the Marketplace across a range of metrics–one of which is app growth. We find that app growth is one of the most interesting metrics as it provides insight into where the action in the Marketplace really is.
Through MARS™ we are able to glean powerful insights into the Marketplace, help our customers navigate it to find the apps most suited to their needs, and provide the Atlassian community as a whole with interesting Marketplace analysis. You can read all about MARS™ and how it can serve you here.
For the sake of fairness we like to separate out Free and Paid apps when comparing Atlassian Marketplace apps while we also like to highlight the fastest growing apps by both absolute and percentage growth. Absolute growth refers to the net instances gained by an app over the course of the month while percentage growth is the percentage instance growth over the month. To ensure our results aren't skewed by very small apps, when looking at percentage growth we only consider apps with over 500 instances. While absolute growth tends to highlight larger apps that are doing well, percentage growth does more to knowledge up and coming apps that have really started to push on in the Marketplace.
This means that every month we release 4 reports showing fastest growing apps in each of the following categories: free apps by absolute growth, free apps by percentage growth, paid apps by absolute growth, and paid apps by percentage growth.
