Assigning an issue on a particular transition Edited

Hi, I'd like to know if its possible to make a rule so that when an issue goes to a certain transition it is automatically assigned to a particular user.

Hi Nick,

Sorry for the slow response - we missed this question. So you can create an Automation rule to assign an issue to particular rule if an issue  moves to certain status.

You want be able to do this for a specific transition (say if you have 2 different transitions going to the same status).  JIRA doesn't provide us with this information in the issue transitioned event.

Here's an example rule that assigns an issue to Nick when the status changes to 'In Progress'

Hi Nick

Yes, this can be done with a post function on the workflow transition. There are 4 relevant options:

• Assign to Current User
• Assign to Lead Developer
• Assign to Reporter
• Update Field Value, there you can update field Assignee (this is what you are looking for)
