Add Review Meeting Date to Confluence Page to Allow Schedule View

Ann Knackstedt September 22, 2022

BACKGROUND:  We are using a confluence template with workflow to allow users to create confluence pages - each page created is a request to review a specific code artifact against our standards.  Review are done in a live meeting.

CHALLENGE:  I want to enable:
1. the review coordinator to assign each request page a review date
2. so that the review date is visible on the request page (but preferably not editable by the submitter or at least it is not obvious how to edit that date) and
3. use that assigned review date to view all the requests scheduled for a given review meeting date

COMPLICATIONS:  Because this is a multi-step review, the submitters have edit access to the page and we do not want the submitters to schedule their own review meeting date.  Even if we cannot prevent them from editing, we don't want to just put a field on the page labelled "review date," but apply the date in a way that how to edit it is at least less obvious.

We could have the review coordinator manually add a label (something like "2022-09-15-Review-Meeting") to each request page when he schedules that page for a review meeting, but was hoping there is a more elegant and less error-prone way to "tag" the page - hopefully something that involves a date-picker, for example.

Another option could be a report page (we do use labels to identify pages that are review request pages, so could use that to pull in the request page title) - if there is a way to add the assigned review date to that report so that the scheduled date is entered on the "report page" but also displayed on the corresponding review request page, that would be ideal - but seems logistically unlikely.

Ideally, our "schedule report" page will display all schedule requests by review date.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
