Adaptavist ScriptRunner for JIRA Cloud: Can't get trial version to work ...

Hi,

I want to set the priority field on a form dynamically based on selection of fields urgency and impact which will then be used to calculate SLAs. I've found out the way to do it is through scripts, for which one needs to install Adaptavist ScriptRunner. However, I have been trying to get this to work on my JIRA ServiceDesk Cloud, but it keeps throwing this error:

ScriptRunner for JIRA Cloud is not licensed!

The add-on will remain disabled until a valid subscription is purchased

Clicking I want to purchase license takes me to the option to start free trial, which I opt for and then select my site for the trial but this error doesn't go away. And the app is uninstalled automatically in a few mins.

Maybe, I am a noob but is this happening to someone else? I don't want to purchase the App before trying it out, and I can't seem to get the trial version to run.

Is there any other way to achieve what I am trying to achieve, i.e. setting the priority field on a form dynamically based on selection of fields urgency and impact?

Thank you for the help.

Hi Jawad,

I can confirm that the ScriptRunner for JIRA Cloud plugin is unable to perform any dynamic validation on issue forms to link or hide fields like the server version can with the Behaviors feature.

Also, I can confirm that the plugin cannot dynamically populate field values like it can in the server version can with the Behaviors feature.

The reason we are unable to provide this functionality is due to the restricted functionality and API's which Atlassian provide inside JIRA Cloud, due to the fact that Atlassian only provides a Rest API in Jira Cloud and not the same Java API that the server version contains.

You can see more detailed information on the differences between ScriptRunner for JIRA Cloud and ScriptRunner for JIRA Server inside of the documentation page located here.

As for your issue installing the trial, if you are still encountering issues can I please ask if you raise an issue with an Atlassian here, as they control the licencing and installation of trials and we will be able to advise further on why the trial is not installing inside of your Jira Cloud instance.

If this response has answered your question can you please mark it as accepted so that other users can see it is correct when searching for similar answers.

Kristian

Thank you for the reply, Kristian. I am still unable to run ScriptRunner for JIRA Cloud but I understand it won't help me achieve what I want to achieve. Hence, I am looking for other solutions. This was helpful.

Hi @Jawad Bhatti , did you find a an alternative tool to realize what you described above? I know you asked for help here like ages ago but maybe you still remember if and how it finally worked outfor you because three and a half years later I'm in the same struggle you've been then.

Kind regards

Magnus

There are no other tools - the problem has been that Atlassian had not built anything into Cloud that can support this sort of thing.

Adaptavist has been working with Atlassian to get them implemented, and working to get Behaviours into SR for Cloud, and the first release is here - see Jira Behaviours on Cloud

Hi,

Do you know if there is a timeline to support custom fields for ScriptRunner behaviors, so we can execute setReadOnly(), setRequired(), setFieldOptions(), setFormValue() ?

Thanks,

Boris
