A way to add a person to the "Shared With" section of a ticket when they click "Get Notifications"

From the issue/ticket view of Jira Service Management, when a person wants to be included on a ticket that is shared with their organization by another member, they need to click on "Get Notifications".  However, this puts them on a table in JIRA and not on the ticket.  So the original user doesn't know that they are getting notifications as well.

Question: Is there a way that when a user clicks "Get Notifications" it will add the user to the "Shared With" section of Jira?   This is the system "Locked" field, "Request Participants" that, "Stores the users that are participants in service project customer portal requests."
