The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks an intelligent, talented, innovative, and Jira experienced resource to support the museum’s extensive Jira implementation in the Information Systems & Technology Department (IS&T). This employee, as part of a dynamic department, will contribute deep subject matter expertise to the Museum’s initiative to support Jira as an enterprise level application. The individual will be focused on the technical and functional configuration of Jira to support this initiative. The scope of the implementation includes Jira projects utilized by Member and Visitor Services, Conservation and Scientific Research, Buildings, Retail, and Digital, among others. The employee must have the knowledge and communication skills to be able to work effectively with multiple levels and degrees of technical and business expertise throughout the organization and have deep knowledge of and experience in Jira, especially in the areas of technical and functional configuration. Knowledge of Confluence as a complement to Jira is also very desirable.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Minimum 2-5 years experience, including Jira configuration expertise across multiple projects, from other institutions that successfully leverage Jira software in their business, as well as ongoing maintenance and support of the Jira platform.
  • Perform functional and technical analysis, as well as functional and technical configuration work within an enterprise wide Jira/Confluence environment.
  • Research, recommend, establish, and maintain best practices in the implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of the Jira/Confluence platform.
  • Support the Museum’s Jira/Confluence infrastructure to insure it operates at peak availability and performance.
  • Evaluate customer requirements against functionality available in new releases of Jira and Confluence to optimally configure all new versions.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Systems Analyst on annual Jira upgrades and new functionality implementations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues with the Jira/Confluence platform.

 

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Ability to configure Jira, both at a technical and functional level, across all projects and add-ons supporting Member and Visitor Services, Conservation and Scientific Research, Buildings, Retail, and Digital, among others.
  • Two or more years of experience in the Jira platform including project management, technical analysis and configuration experience within an information technology setting.
  • Experience with cross-departmental migrations from legacy platforms to a Jira/Confluence solution.
  • Familiarity with other add-ons in the Jira ecosystem such as Adaptavist Scriptrunner, Bob Swift Create on Transition and Update on Transition, nFeed, Misc Workflow Extensions, and SumUp
  • Space creation, configuration, and support with Confluence is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage individual and group security in cross-departmental Jira/Confluence implementations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of information systems and technologies, particularly in a Microsoft environment and the latest versions of Jira and Confluence.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Jira/Confluence implementations and ongoing business process improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server ‘08/’12 considered a plus
  • History of configuring and supporting Java Virtual Machine in a Jira/Confluence implementation.
  • Capable of working in a collaborative environment, including continuous interaction with business staff and management, internal IS&T staff and management, and external consulting partners, as well as the ability to share knowledge effectively with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, flexible mindset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

 

Knowledge and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher required.
  • Previous business experience in the museum or attraction business arena considered a plus, especially in a not-for-profit.
  • Interest in art, art history, music or related cultural field considered a plus.
