Save The Water is hiring a Jira Administrator (Volunteer)

Hi everyone,

I'm the hiring manager for this position. Save The Water is a nonprofit, charitable 501(c)3 organization located in Florida, USA. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a highly organized, active organization, working alongside professionals in different fields.

As this is a volunteer position, we kindly ask for a commitment of a minimum of 8 hours per week for the duration of this project. We're all virtual and from all over the world using GSuite, Google meets, and Slack to communicate.

About the project: we are implementing Jira and Confluence for the organization and centralize the managing of projects, timesheets, resources, workflow processes, knowledge and training.

Jira Administrator

SAVE THE WATER, INC.

The Role

Reporting to the Associate Director of Education: Strategy and Business Operations - Atlassian Products, the Jira Administrator is responsible for integrating Jira and Confluence with the current systems, designing workflows, permission and screen schemes for each business unit. The incumbent will also be responsible for maximizing the features of the product and integrating solutions for process improvement. He/she will work closely with the project team and act as a liaison between different key stakeholders across the organization. The Jira Administrator takes initiative to identify opportunities, address performance/process gaps, track risks, issues and assumptions. The Jira Administrator is responsible for communicating any business function misalignments to the Jira project team, in addition to documenting changes.

What you will be responsible for...

  • Construct custom dashboards using various filter types in Jira.
  • Develop Confluence pages and integrate Jira projects as requested.
  • Maintaining customizations across projects/environments in Jira/Confluence.
  • Excellent understanding of Jira workflows, permission schemes, notification schemes, screens schemes, etc.
  • Work with the Systems Administrator to configure, maintain and upgrade Atlassian Jira, Service Desk, and/or Confluence.
  • Work with the Learning Developer to develop and compile training materials based on the group’s needs.
  • Analyze and apply business requirements to workflows in Jira.
  • Ensure the project is within scope and baseline.
  • Contribute to project status reports.
  • Track work activities and project statuses of ongoing projects.
  • Attend regular meetings as necessary.  
  • Provide project support to the associate director.
  • Be willing to attend virtual meetings in EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails within 36 hours.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Enjoy taking initiative, adaptable, and able to work under pressure. 

Education

  • Some education in information technology, business administration and/or project management from a recognized post-secondary institution; equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience with Jira and Confluence with administrative oversight.
  • Comfortable learning and using a variety of technical solutions to complete project deliverables.
  • Knowledge of agile project management methodologies, tools and lifecycle.
  • Experience using Google product applications or GSuite.

Preferred

  • Experience in technical writing.
  • Experience in working on technology projects or similar.

Volunteers are held to high standards and deliverable due dates.
