EXTERNAL JOB DESCRIPTION 

• Atlassian Engineering Services (AES) runs a large Atlassian platform. 
• Jira Data Center Confluence Data Center along with dozens of plugins and customizations. 
• primary responsibilities include upgrades, application performance tuning and automating routine tasks in a cloud hosting environment 
• Create custom solutions using the Jira platform including workflows, screens, notifications, authorization, and authentication 
• Evaluate, install, and configure Atlassian products and plug-ins 

• Develop automation and scripts with bash or python 
• Work with CICD pipelines in a Linux/containerized environment 
• Provide after-hours escalation support for incidents 
• Provide tier 3 user support for all enterprise Atlassian products 
• Design and develop application integrations with custom-developed applications and 3rd-party applications hosted within the network and within external SaaS environments 

• Deep understanding of Atlassian application tuning and JAVA internals including deciphering thread dumps and stack traces 
• Collaborate with customers to understand technical requirements for new and existing solutions and functionality 
• Collaborate with Systems Reliability Engineering for high availability, container platform automation, and performance tuning 
• Ensure security of application with implementing fixes with guidance from corporate security 
• Develop service ownership policies and procedures for enterprise Atlassian products    

Basic Qualifications    

• 3+ years as a Jira and Confluence administrator preferably in a large installation 
• 4+ years with Linux tuning and command line proficiency 
• 2+ years of web application administration in a cloud environment using nginix or similar 
• 1+ years working in a large enterprise IT environment in the cloud. 
• Strong scripting experience in either bash or python 
• In-depth understanding of Jira configurations (e.g. projects, workflows, screens, fields, plug-ins) 
• Experience managing and integrating with 3rd-party SaaS solutions 
• Experience in collaborating with customers to understand technical requirements 
• Java performance tuning 
• Performance tuning and troubleshooting tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and New Relic 
• Experience implementing high availability solutions for 3rd-party applications 
• 2+ years' experience resolving user issues and requests 
• 1+ years' experience integrating Atlassian products with Atlassian or 3rd-party applications 
• 1+ years of understanding of Postgres databases and SQL preferably in RDS. 

Preferred Qualifications         

• Experience hosting and maintaining multiple concurrent LARGE instances of JIRA and Confluence 
• Experience with Confluence administration 
• Experience implementing high availability solutions for Jira and/or Confluence in AWS or similar cloud environments. 
• Deployment automation working knowledge of pipelines using GitLab CI or Jenkins 
• Atlassian-specific tuning/troubleshooting of session management and caches with Ehcache, Hazelcast, and relational databases using posters or MySQL 
• Experience with SSO and session management using SAML and OAuth tokens 
• Working knowledge of managing scripts/code/configuration using revision control and branching methodologies in either Github or Gitlab
