where does incoming email pick up the reporter

Hi Thomas,

If the email in the From field any received messages does match the address associated with that of an existing JIRA user, this person will be the reporter of the issue. If that email address is not associated with an existing JIRA user, there are two alternatives:

  • You can select the option “Create Users” if you want JIRA to create new user accounts from any received email messages whose “From:” field contains an address that does not match one associated with an existing JIRA user account.
  • You can also specify the username of a default reporter, which will be used if the email address in the From: field of any received messages does not match the address associated with that of an existing JIRA user.
