The right answer is "the test tool that works best for your team".  JIRA has two broad ways to work with test tools - add-ons that provide connectors to other tools, and add-ons that provide testing tools within JIRA itself.

I would start with a look in the marketplace if "works with JIRA" is high on your list of things you want from your testing tool.  Like https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?product=jira&query=test

The answer depends on your needs. If you use mainly manual testing then Zephyr is quite a good solution. If you have more advanced needs like test automation, BDD or test refactoring then Hiptest is definitely a great candidate you should look at: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/hiptest.jira-plugin/cloud/overview

It integrates very well with JIRA (real-time integration, no sync required). I also like the approach to test automation that scales (we are a devOps team). You also have APIs, reporting widgets...

We find the Zephyr for JIRA addon works well for us. It uses native JIRA functionality to create Test Steps, Tests and Test Cycles. You can create Zephyr Tests from within JIRA Issues, with a relationship of "Tests" / "Tested by". A Zephyr Test Cycle is linked to a JIRA Version and each Zephyr Test can be Executed in multiple Test Cycles, i.e. against multiple Versions.

Because it works within the JIRA system, you can edit Zephyr entities like any other JIRA entities: change workflows, configure permissions and notifications, add custom fields, etc.

As with any test tool, there are a few things we wish were different but we like Zephyr because it works natively in JIRA without setting up any mechanism to sync them.

If you are currently looking for a Test Management JIRA plugin, it might be worth to have a look at synapseRT: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.go2group.jira.plugin.synapse/server/overview

Hi

There are two options that you can consider here, either an add-on or a stand alone product.

As people have pointed out, the marketplace is a good place to start and I would like to suggest our own solution at www.testlodge.com that we have recently improved and works with both cloud and server versions of Jira

A demo of our Jira integration can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43r99PpKZoU

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get back in touch.

Thanks

Scott

JIRA itself is lack of Test Case and Test Management features.

If you are currently looking for a Test Management JIRA plugin, it might be worth to have a look at synapseRT: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.go2group.jira.plugin.synapse/server/overview
