what is link for using the service desk customer portal in version 3.4

Leena Bakshi October 10, 2017

I have Jira 7.3.3 installed with service desk 3.4 in Dev environment.

Now this was originally a upgrade from ver 6.4.12 to 7.0.0 and then to 7.3.3. And the gadget with welcome center still pointing to my production service desk 2.5.9.  So when I access dev jira73 and I click on the welcome center link it still takes me to prod service desk and need to avoid that.

I am looking for the link which points to customer portal for service desk so that I can update it in this gadget and push this instance out for user testing before attempting the production upgrade.

I understand Service Desk is no longer an add on but its a full fledged application but then how are users suppose to access it ( https://jira.abc.com/servicedesk is not working)

Thanks

When you clone the Jira instance, the clone will still refer to this same base URL until you change it.

Service desk will build that customer portal URL with the information in the current Jira Base URL found in the Cog Icon -> System -> General configuration settings.

For example, let's say your main Jira site is using a Base URL value of http://jira.example.com

Typically a service desk customer portal is expected to have a format such as http://jira.example.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/1

But that URL is dependent upon the base URL set for the system.

So that is probably the first thing to check on your dev instance.   If you change this and still are not sure about the URL for the customer portal, then there might be more info needed.

Each service desk project is expected to create its own separate URL to refer to that specific project.  You can find this URL by going to a page like the the project queues, then using the left navbar to select the "Customer channels" button.  This will provide you with the specific URL for this customer portal.  It tends to have a format such as:

http://jira.example.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/1
