I want to upgrade my JIRA instance from 6.0 to latest (6.4) so i've downloaded the latest JIRA version, stopped the running instance.

I executed the JIRA installer; ran successful but there wasn't an option to 'upgrade'.

The option i was given was only 'install' or 'cancel'.

What could be the cause of this? Can someone help on this?

Hi Modupe, I have done a upgrade before please, read the instruction carefully. You need to backup the existing JIRA, then after running the new instance, restore the backup file to the new instance.

You need to consider which mode of upgrade you want from here:

For me, I upgrade using rapid, so I just backup the data and restore it.

Hello Modupe,

Was that in a linux or windows box? I'll try to reproduce this to see what happens.

Also, you could also always use the manual upgrading method instead if you continue to have issues with this one, which basically consists of installing a fresh instance of JIRA and then importing your data from the previous instance to it.
